Emilite EML M24 confused readings

Hi all. We’ve had our system just a year now, and i recall the installers saying they have to fit the referenced meter, but i didn’t need to use it. Just prior to Christmas we had a meter reader take a reading. So the other day close to our monthly bill date i chose to take meter reading and submit a meter reading. So i looked at this unit and viewed the 3 sets of figures that are scrolling.
The EXP is 07539.2.
The IMP is 03003.0.
The NET is 04536.1.
Doing the arithmatic the two lesser figures add to the higher 075*** number. But that figure has the EXP arrow. So am i over thinking it or is something amiss?. Would the NET figure actually be the EXP figure. Thoughts and advice please…

The EMLite meters are an MCS requirement to confirm the performance of the inverter.

I presume you have a hybrid inverter, hence import and export.

They are commonly wired incorrectly for grid and inverter directions, but yours looks correct for a hybrid inverter.

By my reckoning you imported 3003 kWh to charge the battery, the total of battery discharge and solar gen was 7539 kWh, hence the net is 4536 kWh.
The solar gen passing through the inverter would be higher than the net value as battery round trip losses have to be accounted for.

So the 7539 correctly indicated “EXP” is actually the figure they’re after. Thanks very much.

The EMLite meter is only monitoring the inverter, not the household import and export for the grid connection.
The inverter may well have exported 7539 kWh but how much of that was consumed in the household before actually being exported to the grid.
Any meter readings for your energy supplier (Octopus, EON etc) need to be taken from the grid meter, not the EMLite meter.

Octopus provide a good guide to reading the different types of meter, including the export reading.

Sorry to be a pain but here we go. I’ve gone into the main house meter (Elster AS300P) and scrolled through to the export reading (4435.). I then went into my octopus account and looked at the export previous readings;
22 Feb 25 = 0
25 Feb = 25
Fast foward to Dec…
1 Dec 25 = 4292
3 Dec 25 = 2461

The 2461 reading taken by the meter reader was on the MCS meter beside the battery installation, which you’ve kindly explained and so therefore is inaccurate. Should i contact octopus and correct it or believe the next auto reading will dismiss the incorrect reading?.

I rang Octopus today and explqined the incorrect reading. They took the EXP figure whilst i was on the phone and “quarantined” the spurious reading.

My MCS meter has never been read by anyone after 3 years of operation. I did once have someone come and read my FIT meter and I had to supply a photo of it when I stopped my deemed export payments, but the MCS meter on my GivEnergy inverters is sitting there unloved

Glad you got it sorted out.
