hmmm I don’t have any smart TV, or any kind of TV in my house. I’m not sure what kind of multicast traffic there could really be here. there’s certainly not any video streaming or torrents or fileshares going over the LAN.
I can give the inverter its own VLAN, but it still needs to share a VLAN with the router if it wants internet access, and if I want to connect to it from my device then that needs to be on the same VLAN too… which then becomes pretty close to the current situation of “everything can see everything”.
I have given the inverter CAT6A ethernet, which can hold more bandwidth than 10mbps. Is it a problem for the wire to be more capable than the device? That would seem a bit extreme, and I really don’t want to undo all that and downgrade it to CAT5, I already terminated the CAT6 twice…
