My 3 phase inverter and 20.4 kw of batteries and 11kw of solar went live mid January. We have now got our export MPAN so I have been looking at our production over the last few sunny days. It looks to me that the is a maximum production of 3.5kw whether the sun is full or hazy. To illustrate this I attach a graph for 2 February which was particularly sunny with only the odd cloud mid morning. You will see that although production rises rapidly until 10am it is then totally flat until 4pm when it drops rapidly. I have added a couple of lines which illustrate how I would have expected string 1 and 2 to have performed. It may be a coincidence but I have eventually managed to set a timed export and that was limited to 3.5kw too!.
Any thoughts?
I’d suggest going through the portal to check that every setting is set appropriately, things like power limit, charge/discharge rate, etc. Even if something looks to be set correctly, setting it to a different value and then back to the correct value will force the setting down to the inverter
Did your DNO impose an export limit on your G99/G100 application? Am wondering if your installer has mis-configured the limit in your inverter. Probably worth getting him back as its a new installation - he can probably access it remotely
Thanks geoffrey
The DNO did not apply any limits so we should have a 11kw limit.
Just looked at settings on the Inverter page of the cloud. This appears to suggest that there is a grid export limit of 3.4v kw!
Unfortunately as a newby I have no idea how to check settings or even get to the portal.
I guess I will have to get onto the installer.
No limit from the DNO? Often their response letter limits export to inverter size.
But you have 3 ways to change that export limit. 1 contact your installer their login can change it, 2 contact giv support with your dno letter showing no limit and they will set it, 3 you can set it using givtcp installed on home assistant.
agreed, the DNO letter will usually limit the install to the inverter size.
I’d suggest either option 1 or 2, whichever is quickest. Really it should be the installers to fix as looks like they have set it wrongly
Thanks for your comments/suggestions.
The Installer has amended the maximum to grid to 11kw. at 12.30pm . I can see from the remote access log that the change was made at 12.33 but from the graph it looks like as soon as the battery was full (13.15) it was choked back to 3.4KW. Though it may have just been a coincidence that the clouds came in !
Any thoughts?
I’m also not sure that the change of grid export limit was effective, as 3.4kw is still shown as the grid export limit maxima on the grid settings shown on the Givenergy cloud.
It may be that your installer has changed one setting but not everything that needs to be changed?
If you click on remote control - the little cog symbol - that gives you a list of all the configuration settings you can change. Some are installer hidden though, but check that list that nothing is set to 3400.
Sounds like you need to get your installer back again !
It looks like the apparent clipping yesterday was just a coincidence that the clouds had thickened at the same time as the batteries were fully filled, today, once the batteries were full we have been exporting to the grid at over 6kw
Many thanks once again

Thanks for the question, and for the several responses. I’m waiting on installation but think mine will be similar to yours in several ways.
Online communities like this are invaluable.
1 We applied for a G98 which gave us 3 phases of 16A
2 Yes we are exporting over a 3 phase connection
3 The G98 just mentions “up to and including 16A per phase.”
The choice of 3 phase was so we just needed to notify the DNO rather than gain approval for exporting more than 16a on a single phase.
As mentioned above the installer upped the grid export limit to 11kw and the issue seems to have been resolved !
