Does anyone know if I can add a second battery my self ?
I’ve been offered a battery the same as the one I have Gen 3 5.1kw.
It’s got the new single cable, so easy to connect.
And from what I’ve read I just need to add it as slave 1.
Does anyone know if it would work with out it’s been commissioned as I’m not eligible to do that myself ?
You’d have to do the GivEnergy training course (and probably need to be an electrician to do the course too).
The battery would need commissioning which is something only installers (and of course GivEnergy) can do.
Do you still have a relationship with your installer (e.g they’ve not gone bankrupt)?
Not sure if the installer would commission it for you, they might want to inspect the work and/or they might just refuse to support the system in future as it’s been modified.
These days giv pushes people to the installer for troubleshooting and warranty replacements - as the contract was with the installer - although not all installers seem happy about that.
Thank you.
The battery is new in box and sealed, but if I can install it it’s no good to me, I used Eon to install my system and they want nearly 3 times what I can get this battery for,
Fitting is easy as it’s just 1 cable and some dip switches but I’m not qualified to do it, so if won’t work with out commissioning I’ll just leave my system as it is for now.
I’ll look at it in the future.
Thanks
