AIO Battery Care tips

Hi,

This week I had an AIO and gateway installed. I’m looking to maximise use of the battery’s capacity whilst minimising degradation.
For info, I have existing PV and an EV charger. I’m on Octopus Intelligent Go.
I’m planning to export unused capacity each day prior to the cheap overnight window.

  1. OK to regularly charge to 100%? Whilst I wouldn’t do this in my car unless needed I can see that the actual capacity of the cells is 15.97 kWh so “100%” is really only 85%.
  2. OK to regularly discharge down to 5%? The minimum in app/portal/API s 4% but a thread on here suggests GivEnergy recommend changing that to 5%. I could set it higher for export purposes (e.g. 10%) if it’s going to have a meaningful impact on long-term battery health.
  3. Max charge rate - Default is the max of 6 kW. Wondering if pulling this down so it takes the whole 5hr overnight charging slot would help battery health or reduce charging losses.
  4. Max discharge rate (for export) - Default is the max of 6 kW. Similar to 3) I could bring this right down if it would give lower losses or support health.

Thanks for any insight.

Paul
