AIO battery RCD tripping in case of grid outage

Hi, I hope someone on here can help me with an issue with my AIO system.
We had out solar and AIO with gateway fittest last summer. The system usually works well. However, whenever there is a grid power outage (unfortunately happens very often) the RCD for the battery trips. We originally bought the system because it can act as a UPS.
Whenever to power goes out, the battery trips and the power in the house goes off and comes back on when the grid power comes back. Every time I have to reset the RCD. The battery trips regardless the power consumption in the house.
Any advice?

Have you requested the earth leakage to be tested from your installer?

In some cases the default 30mA RCD is too sensitive.

Same happened to me. It turned out to be two faults: 1) the installer had “forgotten” to fit a seperate earth rod (which is Mandatory on a Gateway) and 2) the 30mA RCD is far too sensitive for many homes - particularly if the wiring is old or you have mains cables running to outside sheds etc.
Once the earth had been installed and the RCD removed (on the advice of GE) the system switched over perfectly within milliseconds.

The lesson for everyone contemplating having a Gateway installed is don’t let the Installer leave until it has been tested by switching off then on again the incoming mains at the meter, not just on the Gateway.

Same thing happened to me. In my case it was just a loose connection from the AIO into its’ breaker in the Gateway. Once that was tightened up all was fine and has worked perfectly ever since.

This is quite common. I had this issue, and it was down to an earthing issue. See reply from my installer below - you should chase yours up and get them to fix it ASAP. Mine is now much better - it occasionally trips off after a grid loss but maybe 1 in 20 times, vs every time beforehand

“I’ve just caught upon this issue and have spoken to the Technical Director at GivEnergy. We have seen this issue once before and it occurs due to raised fault levels on your earth path from the wiring in the home. This isn’t an issue normally until the AIO switches over. The last time GivEnergy advised that we bypass the RCD supplying the AIO as electrical regulations don’t require it and it fixed the issue.”
