Battery charge falling

Hello newbie here. My GIV-BAT-5.12-G3 is charging to 100% then drops to 80% in 4hrs with system at idle. No timed charge or discharge. Is this normal or a fault TIA

it sounds a bit high the drop, 5% or about 500W an hour. The inverter does take some power to run, but its not as much as that

when was the battery installed? It could be that the battery needs recalibrating, especially if it has not regularly been used full to empty. Recalibration option in the portal to do this - it will fully discharge then fully recharge the battery and once started you can’t stop it, only change the charge/discharge rate - so choose a time to do this when the rates are low or you can recharge off solar

The battery was installed 24th April 2025 therefore I have been checking its operation frequently.

I’d get your installer back if it was installed recently.

If however its due to be installed in a few weeks time I’d be worried about there being a hole in the space/time continuum and probably not use it until 25th April, that might be your problem

@geoffrey Hi, with similar question I would like to recalibrate my batteries but cannot find the option on the GivEnergy portal to start this - can you point me to the right place? Thanks

If you go into the GivEnergy portal

Inverters

Select your inverter then remote control, cogwheel symbol

About half way down the page is the calibration option. You can set the time the calibration starts in the next 24 hours, and that’s the only control you have

Thank you very much!

As a new user I have to say that I find the GivEnergy system rather unintuitive and with a lack of useful help/information…

Yeah there isn’t a lot of new user documentation at all.

But ask questions there are always people to help
