Where are you controlling the charge rate change morning and afternoon?
It was fully discharging over winter but not for a while now.
I was debating swapping onto IOF which would daily discharge. I’ll waste a load clipping given my oversized array but 23p/30p offpeak/peak is pretty tempting.
I use Home Assistant and Predbat to control my battery, charging the battery on the cheapest rates based on solar and house load predictions.
I then have my own automation that directs Predbat specific points to discharge the battery and to limit the charge rates. Partly I do it this way because I have two inverters, one East facing and the other East/West, so I want to control when they trickle charge.
You really need something like Home Assistant for this level of automation of charge and discharge rates, can’t easily do it in the app or portal. You can set the charge rate of course, just not schedule changes in the charge rate.
Intelligent Octopus Flux is worth looking at if you have decent generation capacity; I know a number of people quite happily using it.

Ah I’d seen HA and pred but looked an effort to setup and wasn’t sure it would be worth it.
I’m 7.5kw so exporting 20+/d this month. Which looks to add up for IOF -v- alternatives. Have to swap in winter as I have a HP but for now

I am still having problems with my battery. The app generally doesn’t indicate the true percentage of the battery until I reset the battery and then it is back to not indicating the next day. I have found that discharging the battery to 4% in the evening recalibrates the battery but I have to do this every day. I have found that on the remote control on the web app, there is a new scheduled battery calibration section which is currently enabled and set to 12:30. I tried clearing this, even resetting the inverter - but when I return it is still enabled. How do I clear this???
Once a calibration is enabled in the portal there is no way we have to clear it, but once the calibration is done it automatically clears itself.
So sounds like either your battery is failing to finish the calibration or the portal is wrong.
Sounds like you need to call givenergy support
The status of the battery indicates that the calibration works if the battery goes down to 4% but the portal doesn’t clear. I have clicked on the x (clear this register) to clear it, it asks Are you sure and I respond with a tick. Next time I am back so is it. I have an ongoing email with GivEnergy that has been going on for about a month. I was hoping that the forum might have ideas.
If I enter Remote Control on the web app, I can see that Battery Calibration is scheduled with a time of 12:30. What does this mean? We discharge the battery to 4% at 12pm just before charging it. So how long does the battery need to be at 4% before the system notices it. The battery charges up to 100% by 3:30 in the morning but it might lose some power and regain it from the solar panels before 12:30 - is this a problem?
There should be no reason for a calibration unless giv have scheduled one? Id email them.
Has anyone else had problems with this upgrade? First there was an upgrade to the inverter. Which after a couple of attempts worked. Then the battery needed an upgrade. The battery upgrade failed consistently so followed the manual upgrade instructions.
Now the battery starts up and then after about 30 seconds the status light goes red and the battery is bricked.
Any advice?
last contact on this with GivEnergy was a week ago and I have heard nothing from support since. Tried chasing on Twitter and Linkedin, And the sun is shining!!
Everything worked 100% during the upgrade, and everything still working as it should be for me.
I normally just email them - and they fixed stuff quickly in the past ( but not had issues in over a year, so not sure what support is currently like )

It has taken 7 days but they are now working on it. By which I mean they sent a few commands to it and it came on-line for a while but must not be working properly because they stopped and said nothing more, battery now off line again. No idea what happens now.
I have fixed the charging and discharging of the battery so I don’t have to reset the battery every day. When I start charging the battery I try and make sure that the battery has discharged to below 20%, then I make sure that the battery stops charging before it gets to 100%. I have told all this to GivEnergy but they don’t tell me why it is working like this. Anyway, I don’t have to reset the battery on most days.
