Battery Firmware Update

I have two inverters (4 batteries) and an EMS on top of them. I can restart one inverter but not the second. Digging into the data a little more the thing reports
“Remote Control is unavailable due to Settings being locked. Executing Winter Battery Conditioning - Average battery cell temperature is 1.75°C”
This has been static since the 27th Dec. The app reports average cell temp as 2.85C and 4.65C as of the time of writing this post. There is a ticket with support but they seem to be operating at a snails pace at the moment so any suggestions as to how to clear this would be most welcome.

You will need support to release it. But interesting as I have an EMS too and that setting was disabled on my system. Is it only turned on for 1 of your inverters?

Yes, the ‘restart inverter’ option is only disabled for one of the two inverters.

don’t use winter conditioning instead in the ems, program a short export before you charge the batteries up just to get the cells warm, I will see if I can unlock it for you

Lock released, also took of the target charge Soc enabled as the EMS sets the target not the inverter, have not disabled Winter Battery left that for you to decide. me personally depending where the inverters are,

I would just add some winter insulation to them if outside or program an Export before charging to get them warmed up. I would also consider when it gets a little warmer doing a calibration on the batteries on in inverter CE2052G069, Battery 2 looks a little out

The process is set the EMS into standby , that’s in settings Ems enabled set to not enabled, on inverter CE2052G069 search for active power in remote control and set it to 100%

then active calibration by setting it to discharge, when calibration is completed just restart the EMS. your Firmware on the batteries needs updating 3020 has better temperature control or if available 3022

Michael,
Thanks for your help. I didn’t enable “Winter Battery”. I agree with your suggestion to add some insulation to the batteries in cold weather. Mine, are as you hinted, outside. I will plan to make something when the weather warms up.
I’m still trying to get the battery firmware updated to 3020 as you suggested.

Hi I have a GivEnergy 9.5 battery in our shed. It stopped working on Boxing Day but after a lot of messing about with giv doing a forced charge and the weather warming up it is now working again. What sort of insulation can I use and how to use it so as not to cause problems (heat etc) please.

I’m going to build a removable cover for my 4 batteries. I’ll make it so that it can be easily disassembled for the summer. I’ll use two sheets of thin marine ply with a 50mm thick piece of insulation between them. I haven’t worked out the fine details yet but it won’t be hard to make. The outside will be painted but the marine ply will stop it from rotting.
