A couple of years ago I built a genetic algorithm to calculate charge, discharge and export slots in our home setup. It’s been quite successful averaging ~10p per unit over the last couple of years. I thought I would share it so I’ve just spent the last week turning it into something others can use. It requires MQTT and GiveTCP so it can drive the Inverter locally, rather than relying on the GivEnergy API. It can accommodate electric heating and also has an external containerized app that takes historical data and creates ML model that represents your own property. It’s very new and very untested, so if anyone want’s to geek out and try it out or contribute to improve it, please do.

This has received a number of updates this past couple of weeks and I will be merging in a new system to be able to analyse the previous months data and provide a tariff comparison. Still very much a beta concept, but will allow you to see which is the best tariff for your usage signature and weather.
