Brief Outage Today - went dark _AIO did not kick in

We had an unscheduled outage today. The house went dark. Battery was in a “discharge” mode and had a remaining 44% capacity.
Is there a feature switch, or setting that we overlooked that would give us the ability to backup the house in the event of an outage ? I thought the AIO would worked with the Gateway to give us instantaneous backup.

Interesting. Definition of Timed Discharge " This mode will trigger your battery to cover your home 's electric demand only at the times you specify".
Presumably you had that set outside of the outage time ( were you charging a car at the time and didn’t want to discharge the battery?) Clearly the TD takes precedence. If you had cancelled the TD would the house load and (car?) have taken over?
Assume you have ECO enabled.

I have had the system only 1 month. The discharge period I have programmed is for a test to confirm that the programming actually works - TOU Tariff is not in place yet and I want to be sure I can align the scheduled charging and discharging to take max advantage of the Tariff. That being said, yes, the outage occured during the time the battery was running the house. Then the outage occurred, and the battery went off-line, failing to backup the house demand. So, what do I do differently to insure the battery feeds the house when an outage occurs ? Is there a hidden setting I need to trigger to make the battery backup in the event of an outage ?

As you have only had your system for one month, you should contact your installer and explain to them what happened. They should be able to check the system and make sure everything is working correctly.

In theory you should have been covered - yes. My installer tested this - but yet to know of a real power cut.

If you’re on “timed discharge” how does that interact with “eco” mode? Is timed discharge the right state to be in?

Do you have a Gateway installed? I do and I believe this is necessary for automatic switching during a grid power cut (and for grid export). Mine has always maintained power regardless of settings during a grid power outage.

Yes, I have a GivEnergy Gateway… that is the device that is causing so much trouble. It trips off line when the power goes out.. then that cascades to disruption of communication too the battery, and the battery gets no signal. Basically, I think the gateway is faulting and that is preventing the battery from taking over when the grid power goes out.

This is a very common issue - I and many others have had it. Have a read over this thread House Frequent Power Outages with AIO - #19 by AndyDowns and especially my comment from Dec 2025. You will need your installer to sort it out, but I’d bet you any money it is the same issue I had.

Let us know how it goes!
