Dongle has gone offline dongle off line

9 days ago the dongle went off line and no data showing. I have reset it manually but the installer won’t let me progress as it keeps asking me to allow camera etc and then I go round in circles. So frustrating. Cannot get in touch with anyone from GivEnergy. Any ideas?

Have you tried different browsers ( Chrome / Firefox ) or try the “In-Private” option to clear any cookies etc…

Get this document and work through it methodically.

The process is dreadful but it does work. Everything is so small on a mobile phone.

I have also tried the installer app. I think I got it to work once but it is very unintuitive. You don’t have to use camera. I think I kept scrolling right to go through the steps, despite the app implying that you scroll left!

The process in the link above does work.
I think you need your dongle code but you will need to remove the dongle to see it. I did this and then took a photo for future reference.
Quite how you are supposed to scan the code when it is behind the dongle is beyond me! I am assuming that you have an AC3.0 with the dongle on the outside.

On resetting, one trick to to turn the batteries off when you do this. Then turn off the AC to the inverter. Leave for about 30 seconds, turn AC back on and then batteries. This will allow the inverter to do a full boot.
If you don’t switch the batteries off, when you turn off the AC, the batteries will continue to run the inverter.

If the dongle and inverter are booting from scratch, you should see the dongle’s blue light flashing which is really positive. Once fully booting and if you have been successful, the dongle will be solid blue.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much. I have done as you suggest d but the dongle keeps dropping out. It then gets to rebooting and nothing… I have made contact with Jordan at GiveEnergy but I think I’ll try getting a new dongle ? Thank you for your input. Much appreciated

Thanks for this. I have tried that. I suspect it is the dongle. But who knows!

I have had many battles with the dongle.

Even when I have finally got it to work, I was never quite sure what I had done which fixed it.

Do keep persevering with the wi-fi dongle guide that I provided the link for.
I found that I could get into the dongle’s software, but the connection often dropped out and I was back to square one again. My iPhone wanted to go back to my house wi-fi connection instead.
Working on a mobile’s screen with the tiny printing in the dongle’s software makes this a wearing experience.

I did purchase a replacement dongle myself as a spare but I couldn’t get that to work!

Are you trying to connect on wifi 2.4GHz rather than 5?
And are you using the connect WPA security:WPA2-PSK?
Do you have a Mesh network. I switch Mesh off for the dongle
Some have also suggesting turning off Band steering.
And did you manage to reset the dongle by depressed the tiny button? I found that it wasn’t easy to depress for the suggested time.

This is all far too ridiculous in 2025 for our typical wi-fi setups in our houses.
