I’m looking for recommendations for an extendable hose that will connect to my hozelok hose. I’ve looked at what seems for ages, and they all seem to get unsatisfactory reviews for the quality of the joins and the constant leaks of tsunami replicas. What do you use?.
We went through 4 expandable hoses in 5 years. I can’t recommend them. The last one only survived about 3 uses.
Bought one from a car spares shop. Extends in three sections with water off/on switch. Yes there is some leakage but for £20 it moved the bird crap. Job done.
I dont bother anymore.
Did it once, earlier this year, they had just as much dust on them the next day & it used a huge amount of water (were on a meter), dust etc has a minimal effect, so not sure it’s ever worth the hassle by.
Thanks for replying everyone. My reasoning is not to clean the panels as such but reaction to bird pooh. My installer said they were self cleaning or they keep clean. I recall him saying a once a year clean will surfice, but i would have to keep an eye on well aimed bird pooh. So yesterday i gave them a wash to remove said bunker busters. I used an extendable hose with a telescopic pole with a toweling attachment on the end. Luckily were in a bungalow so not much of a faff.
I bought these - and have been great so far ![]()
I cleaned my panels and use them for windows as well, you are able to flip the brush over and it’s rubber coated so any stubborn poo can be rubbed off with damage to the panels.
I don’t care about general dust / dirt - but the bird/seagul poo needs a bit of effort if it gets baked on !
( I should also add - I didn’t pay these current prices - I waited until they were on sale )
Personally I don’t bother. Every year or so I get a professional in to do them and all the other windows in the house.
Much easier ![]()
