Hello,
I’m trying to setup some automations to control my All In One a little bit more cost effectually than Eco mode does.
I’m creating an automation in HA and I’m using Node-RED, (this is just background, I promise I’m getting to the question) that runs between 4pm and 7pm, looks to see if solar power is being created and if the battery is over 60% charge, and then will turn the “Force Off Grid” switch to “On” so that I don’t import from the grid during peak.
I have this working, but it turns the PV import off as well.
I’ve checked the data and it’s repeatable every time I trigger the “Force Off Grid” switch on “On”.
Is this expected behaviour or is there something wrong here?
I can’t see a switch for turning PV import off either so I’m even more confused.
Any help is very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Sangers
Think I’ve read elsewhere that when off-grid, PV generation only continues if AIO is under 80%.
I know you mentioned 60% for your automation but not sure how full your battery was at the time you forced it off-grid?
Thanks for the reply.
The battery was 100% during testing, which is when I saw this happen.
Sounds like I need to speak to giv to see what on earth the thought process is with this.
I think they’ve picked 80% so that there’s somewhere for the solar to go. So if below 80% it can go to the battery but if above 80% then shut down PV output
If you are using HA, then take a look at the Predbat integration. It will manage freezing the use of the grid and charging at the best rates etc considering the Octopus rates + accounting for your usage, solar forecasts etc and, it’s free.
Also you have to remember that taking the AIO off grid limits you to 6kw (sustained) and will shut down the AIO if exceeded.
I looked at using the off grid option (to prevent exports of PV due to an ongoing grid over voltage issue) and I do not recall having a problem with the PV being shut off. I did however have a couple of instances where the reconnection with the grid was not quite so seamless, causing my network gear rebooting resulting in one very unhappy mrs who was on a work conference call
Awesome thanks for the reply, I’ll have a look at it!
