My GivEnergy AC-coupled inverter was installed towards the end of the July 2023. It came with firmware version D0.535-A0.535. I believe that was the latest current version at the time the inverter was installed, based on the information regarding firmware updates in the GivEnergy Knowledge Base.
However, that KB article also lists a number of later firmware versions, albeit with numbers in the 2 range, rather than the 5 range that my inverter has, which does seem a little strange. (Why would the numbering system take a step backwards like that?)
Although I have been alerted to a number of battery firmware updates on the portal since then, all of which have been installed successfully, I have never been offered any of these later inverter firmware versions, so it’s still on 535:
I raised a query about this with GivEnergy consumer support in January this year. Their response was:
Inverter firmware version 535 is the most recent and up to date public release version which is why the portal does not state an update being available.
We do have firmware version 205.205 which is a later version however not available publicly through the portal.
This doesn’t seem to tally at all with what’s on their knowledge base.
I was reminded of this on seeing rbor’s recent thread about being prompted to update the firmware on their AC3.0 inverter from D0.205-A0.205 to D0.210-A0.210.
Can anyone shed any light on why my inverter seems to be stubbornly stuck on a firmware version that is getting on for three years old, when other users seem to be happily running much later versions, and even being offered the very “latest and greatest”?
