Thanks Bob, what make and model of EV do you have?
Hey,
It’s a Tesla model 3.
Only the Tesla is tied to octopus as a device.
The charger is not.
I have no schedules set up on either the Givenergy EV charger or Tesla itself. Well I do but they are disabled.
Thanks
Bob
I have tried everything to get my etron working, octopus have said i need to be on a later MMI software which is fair enough however Audi wont update it without me paying a stupid amount to diagnose the problem! I have told them i just want them to do it.. however they wont
So Last Night I am sure my 2024 Q4 E-Tron with GE EV Charger Charged successfully with Octopus Intelligent Go. Apologies this will be a long post with pictures.
- I had enabled Local Control as in my post 5 days ago. This setting is not in the GE Mobile App - had to enable it on the GE Portal in the cloud.
- The Car had no home location charging settings enabled, no timed charge enabled, only had the slider below in the MyAudi app set as per the last attempted Igo charge (I think Octopus software changes this setting). The GE charger no schedules set, plug and charge enabled, and Config was CT Meter (Grid, Solar & Hybrid)
- I plugged in the car, and locked it, around 19.40 got white flashing light then green flashing light, no charging. The MyAudi app timer was set for Th 04.00
- At 19.47 Octopus App detected the car was plugged in, set schedules 21.30-22.00, 22.30-23.00, 01.30 to 06.00
- At 21.30 the car started charging and stopped at 22.30 (was also taking from solar battery & grid) but I think this was due to another schedule change - see step 8
- At 21.45 I noticed the Octopus Schedule had changed to 00.30-01.00, 01.00-01.30, 01.30-06.00
- At 22.12 The octopus schedule had changed again 22.00-22.30, 01.00-06.00
- At 22.14 I noticed the MYAudi app timer slider was off - this could only be changed by Octopus? The car stopped charging at 22.30
- At 23.11 the Octopus Schedule had changed again 23.00-23.30, 23.30-00.00, 02.00-06.00. The car did start charging again at 23.00 and on trend you can see this, but car continued to charge until about 03.00 with no breaks when it reached 80% target.
- At 23.23 my phone again showed a new charging schedule 23.23-00.00, 00.30-03.00 etc so was changing all the time, 23.39 looked at phone and schedule was 04.00-04.30, 04.30 to 08.30, noticed at this time MyAUdi app timer was changed to 21.35 Thu
- At 00.25 as I headed to bed, Octopus schedule had changed again, 02.00-02.30, 03.00-05.00, 05.30-06.30, 07.00-08.00
Lots of screenshots below - have to upload 5 at a time
More screenshots - hope this post looks alright

Will need to check my cheap slots match the schedule when Octopus App data appears.
Next charge I will try Grid only setting to see if it does not drain solar battery - y battery is set to charge at 23.30 to 05.30 the fixed cheap period.
I have an MG4 which isn’t compatible with IOG - is there any update on the Giv EV Charger being able to support it? The inverter/batteries are able to talk to Octopus so it would surely be straightforward enough to get the EV charger working too?
I have given up with Igo setting the charging schedule - tried it again - car started charging all the time - every time I stopped it charging would start again 10 minutes later. Back to timed charging until Octopus have adopted the GE charger.
The-battery won’t discharge to the car if the battery CT clamps are positioned correctly.
This was explained to me by the installation team when our solar, battery & ev charger were all fitted.
Have them in the wrong place & it gets awkward!
But any competent solar electrician should be able to move them. 10 min job in most cases.
Hi, I’ve been scanning the above comments re Octopus Intelligent with the Giv charger and cars. I have a VW e-UP. Octopus Intelligent integration is via the VW. Just to say over the past year I have experimented every which way and have finally decided to rely mostly on the car’s departure time timers, which are very reliable. My problem when using Octopus Intelligent, with no timers set in the car or the charger, Octopus generally takes control and stops the initial charge no problem, but then at some point after the car restarts the charge un-commanded by Octopus and Octopus loses control. The car then charges to 100% (despite setting 80% in the Octopus app). Basically the car won’t stay stopped, but the restart timing is totally random. Can be 30 minutes, 1hr 45min, 2hr 30 mins or just anything. The EV charger cannot force the car to start charging so it’s not that. Octopus say they are not sending the random restart messages so it’s not them. It’s the car or VW. It’s so random though my bet is on VW. The car has a good radio connection to VW. There are times that Octopus Intelligent has worked correctly, another reason I think it’s some random bug in VW (not the car). VW gives so little visibility of the mechanisms in the cloud it makes it impossible to debug. I await Giv Charger and Octopus integration, but I’m not holding my breath.
