Givenergy EV charger has started to discharge house battery

I’ve got a GivEnergy 5kW hybrid Inverter gen 2, 9.5kWh battery gen2, and an EV charger. Since I got the charger about 14 months all has been working perfectly. But 2 months ago my system started ignoring the “do not allow EV charger to discharge the house battery” setting and now the EV charger discharges the home battery. All other functions work fine. All components are online. I can stop and start the battery from the app - that all works. I’ve toggled the setting and made sure the app and web page are in sync. So, does anyone else have this problem recently? It seems to be a problem with the logic in the cloud - messaging between the inverter and the EVC. I should say the EVC has always been set to Grid, and inverter control. None of that has changed. Cheers

I think mine discharges the home battery despite being told not to. Usual piss-poor implementation by GE I think.

Thank you. Mine was fine for the first 12 months and then just one day it started discharging the battery. Something has changed. Cheers

Hi Backx, Givenergy has just fixed my problem with the Givenergy car charger discharging my home battery. The control is in the cloud. EVC was reporting ‘charge started’ but the inverter handler in the cloud was not sending down the messages to set the battery discharge rate to be the same as just the house load. GE back office looked at my inverter handler and made some adjustment manually this afternoon and it now works just fine. But it’s uncovered a systematic problem that they will fix. I imagine it’s to do with some configuration script - possibly to do with the (eventual) move from cloud control to local control. If you plug in your EV you should see control messages on the bottom of the inverter remote control page on the web portal view. The messages are called “EV Charger inverter control”. I hope that helps. Cheers
