Our GIV-HY5.0 and Giv-Bat 8.2 system does not discharge in the evening - either sensibly or at all.
When the sun has set in the evening and the battery has fully charged from our solar array all day, the system does not seem to begin fueling our domestic power consumption from the battery instead of the grid.
With the Timed Export setting disabled, the system does not discharge the battery in the evening at all. It simply holds onto a full battery while fueling all of our domestic power consumption from the grid, which is a total waste.
With the Timed Export setting enabled, the system simply begins emptying the battery and fueling the house if it can while otherwise sending all of its surplus battery capacity immediately back to the grid as quickly as possible.
This means that we are effectively unable to steadily and sensibly fuel our extended evening power consumption from our daytime solar generation. Which means we are only getting effectively half of the benefit of having a battery.
It has been this way for over three years now. Is this simply a fundamental shortcoming with this system?
You could try checking the following. On the GivEnegy Cloud, goto My Inverter, Remote Control (cog icon on right of screen).
Try turning off ECO mode then turn it on again.
Check the Battery Reserve and Battery Cutoff options by using the refresh arrow to the left of the option. Both should be set to 4% unless you want to keep more in your battery.
Check the Battery Discharge Power by using the refresh button. Make sure that it is set to maximum.
Check the Inverter Discharge Power, it should be 100%.
Check the Pause Battery option, it should be Not Paused. Also check the Pause Start and Pause End time slots (if you have them) they should be set to 00:00.
Lastly check the Discharge Slots and change all slots to 00:00 and all Lower SOC %'s to 4%.
Or try clicking the ‘Reset to Defaults’ button in the Battery Settings section. This resets all schedules, and turns Eco mode on.
You can then configure a discharge schedule only, without touching any other settings, and the battery should start to discharge to cover your home’s load during that scheduled time window.
