Hi,
I have a Gen 1 battery and a Gen 3 inverter. The limmiting factor dictating how far they can be apart is the data comms cable which is apparently limited to 2m.
Is there a way around this to increase the distance apart?

If only comms is the issue then your installer can provide a LoRa wifi connection for comms.
Though I would of thought giv’s custom connection cable between inverter and battery would be the limiting factor?
That is the cable that is causing the issue. The installer said that it can’t be longer than 2m due to the comms cable contained within along with the DC lines
That is the limit. The inverter can go just about anywhere and the solar cables to that extended. But the battery connection is limited by the giv cable.
The installation manual says that the maximum length of inverter to master battery is 5m

I think there is an extra-long version of the cable. Might be a special order and not normally in stock
Do you happen to know the part number/reference for the 5m cable?
No I don’t sorry
I can’t find it on midsummer wholesale or its technologies websites but I believe it does exist
Maybe call givenergy tomorrow?
Good call. Thanks Geoffrey
Called GivEnergy today. Turns out with a Gen1 Battery, because of the requirement for a DC MCB you can just use two 2m cables, one from the inverter to the circuit breaker, and then another from there to the battery.
Should solve the problem.
