Hi,
I’m currently researching my Solar/Battery options, and The Givenergy AIO is one system I’m looking at.
Does anyone know if an internet connection is mandatory for the continued operation of the AIO & Gateway?
Another system I was interested in, has terms and conditions that state the system MUST be continuously connected to the internet. If the system detects a break in the networking for a period of time (several days), then the system will shutdown, apparently “For safety reasons”.
In my humble opinion, this does not sit well with an off-grid system.
I’m unsure if the software will cut off electricity if it looses a connection for too long, but the warranty specifies:
" AIO strictly
has continued and constant internet connectivity for monitoring and software
upgrade purposes i.e. internet connectivity for a minimum of 90% of the time since
initial installation or a continuous outage that must last no longer than 14 days and
for the duration the Supplier performs measurement checks and remediation works
on the AIO. If the AIO is not connected to the internet and/or software updates are
not performed, the Supplier does not warrant that the AIO will be free from faults or
defects."
