My battery not charging to the Full 9.5 KW

My 9.5 Kw battery only seems to charge up to 3.5kw and I’ve been trying to get help from GivEnergy for the last month with no help coming forward!
Has anyone else had this issue and is there a solution I can implement or do I need GivEnergy to rectify the battery capacity from their end?

first thing to do is to check the settings in the portal.

You could try a ‘reset to defaults’ for the inverter

But I would check the ‘AC charge limit’, its fine to leave this disabled but if it is enabled then the limit should be set to 100%

Thanks for your reply, I did reset my inverter previously, but now when I try to reset my inverter the app is coming up with "failed to change settings!! I’ll leave a few hours and try again, Thanks Geoffrey

if you’re getting a failed to change settings or a timeout then it indicates comms issue to the inverter. You might try powering the inverter off and on again in case its got stuck, but otherwise, just retry, yes

I had this last winter with my 5.2kw only charging 1.2kw when done via mains - forcing a recalibration of the battery helped, and I updated to the 3020 firmware and haven’t had any issues since.

(note that a calibration will be full discharge followed by full charge, so if you’re on a flex tarrif, plan accordingly - it’ll take a few hours!)

Geoffrey, thanks the comms issue has been cleared

I finally got Givenergy to do a calibration and found an issue with my batteries, so they are sending out the field services team to replace my battery

I’ve had the same issue for about a month. The charge is no more than 600w when it used to be 3.5kw, so the battery at night reaches to about 43%. Have you tried resetting to default? I’ve just done that now but it has not made any difference.

As I have the same issues, where do I find the AC charge limit? Thanks in advance.

Look in the givenergy portal for your inverter under the configuration settings (cogwheel) tab:

Thanks Geoffrey, That’s exactly what I can see but it’s made no difference. In addition, during peak times, the house is pulling from the grid, as much as 700w and less than that from the battery, and there’s nothing I can do about it. I have set the discharge time from 1600 but makes no difference. I’m convinced there’s an issue with the battery. Perhaps a recalibration but that’s beyond my capabilities.

The recalibration option is on the same page of the portal, you can initiate it yourself. Be aware it will fully drain then refill the battery so set the time when its sensible to do so for your import tariff

Otherwise it is givenergy support, it does sound like a battery fault
