I am interested in installing a solar panel array and battery to supplement my already existing local energy generator (also solar) which also has an inverter of its own. If this secondary system has surplus power which is being exported to the grid can the new gen 8kW hybrid inverter use the surplus power to charge the battery attached to it - assuming its battery is not already fully charged? I can’t merge the two systems into one because my complex roof layout means that I would need 5 strings each separately managed and optimised. It is a tyical case in which individual micro-inverters have a clear advantage, and I may need to go this way with a separate AC coupled battery system.
