Hello there! We had our system installed over the summer (12 panels plus a 5.22kW battery) and are currently on Octoplus Flux Import/Export tariff. During the Summer we tend to charge the battery fully at the reduced Flux rate and then set it up on Eco to use/ export PV until and kick off the battery discharge/ export when peak time (and evening) starts. This normally works OK, but less efficient in winter, so I have started to look at the Intelligent Flux rate. I know that Intelligent may be maximising the charge/ discharge of te battery and the peak and day peak tariffs are lower, but I will miss out on the 2-5 am reduced Flux tariff which is when I normally charge my battery.
Would expect many have had the same Qs - is it worth moving it to the Intelligent Flux tariff?
For reference, we are based in Surrey and, as a example, todays tariffs are: Octoplus Flux Import
Flux rate (02-05h) 15.14p / kWh
Day rate (05-16h + 19-02h) 25.24p / kWh
Peak rate (16-19h) 35.33p / kWh Export
Flux rate (02-05h) 4.98p / kWh
Day rate (05-16h + 19-02h) 13.56p / kWh
Peak rate (16-19h) 27.16p / kWh
And I guess the other option would be Octopus Go for the Winter times where I don’t expect to have much PV? Octopus Go Import
Off-peak rate (0:30-5:30h) 8.5p / kWh
Peak rate (5:30-00:30) 26.77p / kWh
If you export more than you import its worth exploring intelligent flux.
If you generate 2x what you consume, in any month, defo worth looking at.

You also need to think differently, the grid would be your battery - a massive battery - you can borrow from it and then pay it back with export at the same price with no loss of efficiency!
As long as you avoid using lots of energy during the peak rate 4-7pm and you net export, it should be good.
Thank you; will have a look - it seems that for us, right now in winter, Go may be the best option… or being able to charge to minimise use in the Flux peak time.
I am on Octopus Intelligent Flux with a Give 9.5kw battery a GIV-HY5.0 inverter and 10x 450 watt solar panels. I’m trying to find a tariff that’s similar to an EV night import tariff (ie around 8p per KWH). I don’t think Octopus Go is allowed unless one has an EV…that’s what Octopus has told me. (Nov 25). I have been looking at Ecotricity as they have a night time rate (EV Smart one year fixed) which anyone can go on. 32.07 per kwh daytime 7.78 per kwh 0000-0500. Fixed export at 8.9 per kwh if you import with them too. Has anyone else been on this tariff and is it likely to deliver better than Octopus Intelligent Flux?
