Octopus Energy Grid Usage Overcharging

I don’ know if anyone here has had the same issue and already solved it, I’m on Octopus Flux , and have a solar array with a 9.5kwh battery but when looking at the consumption as indicated on the Octopus app or portal it doesn’t take into account where the power is coming from. I did a check and a very high percentage of days are being charged for the full homes draw despite some of this (according to the Givenergy portal) being covered by solar, and also battery. I’m still waiting for Octopus to reply with anything other than ‘we are looking into it’ , has anyone else had this challenge ? Thanks

Hi,

I have the same set up, tariff and energy supplier.

For me the Octopus app shows data/graphs for “Octopus Flux Import” and “Octopus Flux Export”. This looks to follow the data from the GivEnergy app for “total grid Import” and “total grid export”.

I have had the GivEnergy system since the start of March and (mostly) the GivEnergy data Vs the Octopus data has been within about 1% or 2%.

I hope that this helps

Dave

Hi , so it sounds like theres hope for me. My question is concerning the fact that in the Octopus useage it appears to be changing me for everything even the power I consume generated by solar or when the battery supplies power. When I see the graph on the Givenergy portal or app it will say 16kwh 10kwh from Grid, 2kwh from Solar and 4kwh from battery, but the octopus app will just say 16kwh. I’ll see what Octopus say, I presume your graphs line up with the grid import value from the GE portal?
Thanks

Would you be able to share a picture of the wiring at your electrical cabinet? From what you’re saying it almost sounds like someone might have installed the battery before it goes into the meter! It sounds silly but it might help to see what the wiring is like

Hi
Thanks for the reply, yes it occurred to me that if not wiring then the point at which the metering information is being collected is not correct. The system was installed by professional installers, and since that time I’ve had GivEnergy come out to replace the battery so I’m pretty sure the wiring is correct
I’m not at home right now to be able to take photographs of the set up, but I will do at some point when I return over the weekend
