6kw Array 13.5kw battery installed October 2024.
There is a grey meter that I am assumimg records Kw generated to the grid for payment purposes. This meter is showing 2.02Kw generated since Oct 2024.
However the system reports show that 599Kw has been exported to the grid.
Is the meter wired up to something else?
I am not on a Tarrif as still in old contract with E-on until next year.
Any clues on this would be most helpful.
Cliff
if you have a solar panel array then a meter is installed to measure the generation, it sounds like that is what you are looking at. 2.02kW is way too low a value for the generation, but possibly is the consumption of your inverter. Is there any button on the meter to swap mode?
Possibly your installer has fitted the meter the wrong way round?
But that meter isn’t used for you to get paid for export, your normal grid meter is what is used. You should be able to get paid for grid export from Eon alongside whatever fixed import tariff you are on, it may not be the best tariff but you could at least get SEG payments - have a word with Eon.
Many thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately there are no buttons on the meter.
Have spoken to E-on several times, always get the same reply - Nothing can be changed until I’m out of contract.
Have sent image of meter to installer, but cannot get a reply.
I am slowly beginning to realise that once you have the installation and paid up - your on your own - very disappointing.
Morning,
Are you reading the wee PV meter on the Gateway? I had issues with mine not reading correctly (recording less than 1% of actual PV generation) for months following installation, but after the full Gateway & AIO system were powered down by ASHP installers during the electrical work the small meter on the Gateway magically matches the bigger actual PV meter.
Although export value on main supplier meter is lower as fair portion of solar generation is consumed by house load and topping up battery.
I assume you have a fixed rate import tariff with Eon.
There shoudn’t be any problem with you applying for the Eon SEG export tariff and getting paid 16.5p/kWh you export as you are already an Eon customer https://www.eonnext.com/electricity-and-gas/smart-export-guarantee
Alternatively you can get SEG payment from any other supplier, e.g. Octopus, but they pay a lower rate if they do not supply your import (same as Eon do).
To be clear, the export payment is alongside your existing import tariff, it does not replace your import tariff. I suggest you just try applying for it.
If you have never had an export tariff then it can take 6-8 weeks to get setup as your DNO needs to allocate an export MPAN (meter number), so sooner you start the process, the quicker you’ll start getting payments
I wonder if you are looking at the generation meter that has to be installed as part of the MCS standards. If so I would ignore it - your export will be recorded by your smart meter as that is the single version of truth.
