I had my GivEnergy Hybrid 8kW Inverter Gen 3 installed a few months ago, it’s right next to my dining table as it’s in my utility room. From the moment of commissioning, it’s emitted a piercing high-pitched whine. I asked my installer to seek support from GivEnergy at the time, they slowly asked some delaying questions then disappeared.
Anyway this is very painful for me every day, is there a way to change the switching frequency of the inverter so that it doesn’t sound so painful?
My parents have an AC-coupled All-in-One, it doesn’t make sound like this, so the thought hadn’t occurred to me when picking GivEnergy that their products could hurt me.
I have solar panels connected to the inverter too. I haven’t noticed whether different modes or power draws of the inverter result in any change in the sound.
I had a 6kw Gen3 in stalled and it did the exact same thing. I made a video and our installer liaised with Giv who said this is normal and no action required. The installer disagreed as did anyone else I spoke to who said their inverter was silent.
So the installer replaced it with a Fox which is totally silent even on full load.
It was painful and no amount of covering it would silence it. The particular frequency would also pierce most walls or any bafflers installed to silence.
There is nothing you can do as far as I know. It is a ‘feature’ of the Gen3.
Mine made the noise the moment the inverter fired up in the morning and only stopped when the sun fully went down.
that’s very interesting. when you had the installer replace it with a Fox, did that require replacing the battery too? or was the Fox inverter compatible with GivEnergy stackable battery and whatever solar panels you already had?
