For several weeks while the weather has been great I have had no timed charge settings on my AIO + Gateway because the PV was bringing the battery up to 100% by lunchtime every day and we were then exporting to the grid. However even though there are zero settings timed charging is occurring at random times and for random periods. WHY?
can you explain a bit more about why you think there is timed charges going on, where you see this?
Have you got a smart tariff setup in the Octopus portal or on the Octopus Intelligent Flux tariff? Either of these can override your planned charging
In âMy Invertorâ on the portal there are no âtimed chargeâ set and on the app on my iPhone it shows â0/10 Timed Charge Slots Usedâ. In âSmart Tariffâ no âautomationsâ are selected. In âPower Flowâ one can clearly see âgrid inputsâ. For several weeks these have been keeping the battery at 100% from about 18:00 to midnight (usually the battery has been at 100% at sundown but we have background demand of 400w) but bizarrely yesterday it also kicked in grid input between 13:25 and 14:40 taking the battery from 63% to 100%. I will try and attach images.
I have tried to upload several images confirming the above but an error report says as a new user I can only upload one image.
I am using the Agile Octopus October 2024 v1 tariff.
On your AIO is their anything shown in the logs around that time.
You can check this by going to your inverters in the web portal and selecting the little cog icon. If you scroll to the very bottom theirs a list of logs and commands and what issued them.
My help narrow down whatâs issuing a charge command.
Thanks
Bob
Thank you. I have just checked and the latest log for each of the timed charge âstartâ and âendâ times all read 00:00. The last logged action was 5th April when the 00:00 settings were written (and read I assume).
I have just revisited the logs you suggested and it is rather spooky. The latest (5th April) readings are âWitten successfullyâ but I have toggled to âReads onlyâ and the last logged âreadâ is 8th February. This is strange because whenever I have set a time I have always checked on the timed charge page that the instruction has been âwrittenâ and then âreadâ. On the face of it, it looks as if what is reported as âreadâ on the timed charge page is not actually being logged into the server. Thoughts?
its probably worth you doing a âreset to defaultsâ of your AIO and then explicitly re-setting all of the timed charge slots to a random start and stop time, and then to 00:00 so that they are definitely written as such to the inverter
it definitely does look like an inverter grid charge from the power flow
Thank you.
Support at GivEnergy have just said âdisable timed chargeâ and that will cure it. That does not make sense to me. Yes it will stop any timed charging taking place but it does not explain why unscheduled timed charging is taking place or how to stop it happening in the future. Am I being dense?
Maybe they mean disabled it for abit and reset up a new timed charge slot. Did you try the reset to defaults and resetting up your window?
To be fair I did see someone with a similar issue at the end of their cheap rate cycle on the other givenergy forum.
Thanks
