Smart Tariff vs Smart Tariff legacy

Hi,

I’m struggling with getting these to work. Until the new Smart Tariff card appeared, I was happily charging overnight and discharging during the day. When the new Smart Tariff appeared, I set it up, and all seemed to continue working until …

I’m also on Axle Energy’s grid export programme. When there’s an export event, they remotely set the battery to discharge during the advertised time, then revert the settings, except they don’t revert them quite how they were. They delete the charge slots from the “Smart Tariff legacy” card. You’d think this shouldn’t matter, except it does - the battery then fails to charge overnight. I have to manually reinstate the charge slot, and then all is well again. This seems to show that the new Smart Tariff simply doesn’t affect timed charge, although I’m fairly happy I have it set so that it should (It’s set to charge below a certain rate value which is higher than my overnight rate but lower than the daytime rate - there is no way to program a time).

Have I done anything wrong, or is it just broken? I could just switch off the new Smart Tariff, and I’m fairly confident it would go back to working reliably, but being a nerd, I want the new stuff to work. Advice please!

Thanks, Nick.

Axle Energy’s grid export programme what’s that got to do with the Smart tariff don’t you think you have two conflicting systems, now

Axle isn’t run by GivEnergy servers it’s direct API, obviously it’s sloppy if it isn’t checking and resetting settings

I realise it’s 3rd party and done via the Api. I only mentioned it because it was what alerted me to the fact that Smart Tariff (the new one) doesn’t appear to be working. I’m actually quite happy with Axle - although they seem to mess up the settings, they pay well :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
