I got the SolCast forecasts to work but the GE data for actual generation etc just shows as zero… anyone know why / got this working?
Hi
By GE data, do you mean in the power graph chart?
Or is it the Solar Power forecast card, where you need to supply GE with some info:
Check that you have the info that GE needs.
Log onto Solcast.
The resource ID is easy and you get this from the main screen showing your setup.
If you have more than one resource, there is help on the main screen for what to do.
The API code is hidden away.
To reveal it, select the down arrow top right and
You then submit your credentials.
Hope this helps.
Rob
Yep have all of that (sorry I thought I’d made that clear). What I don’t have is the GE data eg see no data no actuals (in yellow)
I don’t use this card as I access my solcast data using predbat in HA.
To help out, I have set up the card for my installation using my Solcast api and resource iDs and this is what I get:
So there is something not right with your setup.
Can you upload a screenshot of your power graph which should show your solar generation?
Also check in your account settings/Manage Account Security. Having set up the card, I now see this:
It may be worth deleting this and trying the solcast details again.
As I don’t use this card, I will now remove it from my dashboard and delete this line from my Account Security Settings.

My ‘local/home’ data isn’t working on my app either - something wrong somewhere… I’ll try an inverter reboot soon and see how it goes. Thanks for you help - much appreciated
Right, we have tracked it down and the issue is not with Solcast.
Your inverter isn’t picking up any solar.
Yes, reboot inverter.
In Dashboard/My inverter, it the button furthest to the right.
Very quick to do.
The other place to look at is the PV data, also within ‘My Inverter’. This is mine
Do you have a hybrid inverter or an AC3.0 AC coupled?
If AC3.0, you will have 2 inverters. Is the separate PV inverter working?
Finally, in your account security page, you have a 2nd line for MPAN. What is this?
What tariff are you on? Intelligent Flux?
Rob
OK I’ve just hit restart, let’s see what happens.
But when you say the inverter isn’t picking up the solar it is reporting it in the meter data etc - so what do you mean by that?
I have 20kw 3ph inverter
The MPAN is for my import and export I guess? I’m on Octopus Go (not intelligent) and fixed export
So far didn’t fix anything… are you part of the GE team Rob?
Oh the octopus line is so GE can get the data from Octopus to display … interestingly Octopus always 0.5-0.6kwh higher than Grid Import …
Thanks for your info. I have more questions!
Have you got one of the Smart Tariff cards in your dashboard. I think you supply tariff data for this card, including MPAN, so that GE can display the data in a chart. That is likely the extra line in your Account Security page, in which case, the line is fine.
From your Power Graph, your battery is being charged in the first part of the Go low price slots (approx 00:30 - 01:30).
The box on the right shows 400 W of PV power at 09:25. This looks low and there is no trace of ‘yellow’ shading in the chart. Tomorrow, can you take a screenshot that shows main daylight hours across midday?
I have seen this query before. Try this in your app:
- Select the 3 horizontal lines, top left.
- Select Settings
- Select Local Monitoring
- Under IP Addresses, you should see the IP address of your inverter. If you don’t know this, you should be able to find it from your router.
However, if you select ‘Scan for your inverter’, the app should be able to find the IP address and display it below. You can then add it.
When you get Octopus bills, are they showing the export that you would expect? If you are being paid for export, it means that the meter is picking this up.
Your Power Graph is showing all power flow except for solar.
Has it always been like this? If your bills are fine, I wonder whether the problem is monitoring and this could be something wrong with CT clamps monitoring PV.
Finally, please tell us the actual model of your Inverter. You can get this from the My Inverter/General page. Also, what are your batteries and size of your PV array.
Sorry for all the question but trying to get to the root of what is going wrong.
Rob
No! I am just someone like you, who is on these forums to help others and to seek help myself. That way we all learn from one another.
Rob
The inverter defo has the solar - yes the yellow line was barely visible (it was a poor day but also with a 20kw inverter it barely shows on the scale) but it was there - that’s why I hovered to show the data.
Yes that MPAN is for the smart tariff card.
Yes on another thread Geoffrey helped with the local monitoring… I have the correct IP and a green tick etc.
I suspect there’s a screwed up setting somewhere messing all of this up…
Thanks for your help Rob
Ian,
I have asked Geoffrey for his opinion and stated:
GivTCP is “getting there” with 3 phase, but there’s still issues with predbat controlling it as it doesn’t behave the same as our inverters do. Also there are several bits not working in the portal AFAIK so I suspect this is one of them
I am not sure that we can help you any more – the issue seems to be about monitoring rather than how much PV is being generated.
I suggest that you contact GE by phone and explain the problem. They will be able to see all your data, and more.
Do tell us how you get on.
Meanwhile, it has been a really good solar day across most of the country.
I have a 5kW PV inverter and was generating up to 5 kW during the day and managed nearly 40 kWh overall. I am on iOG and you can see my battery being charged during the night.
This is my power graph.
I suspect that you can generate far more than me, depending on the size of your array.
Rob
Thanks again Rob (and Geoffrey). Life’s too short to try to get GE support for non-critical stuff I’m afraid - they very nearly got the whole system delivered to them in a skip over poor support, but Paul L stepped in and at the last minute saved the day (or his team did) with an updated battery firmware.
I’ve only got my phase 1 solar at the moment - 4kwp so managed 16.4kwh today. Having 12kw heat pump installed this week and gas is now turned off so no heating for next couple of days - gas being removed by octopus soon
Aiming for net zero over the year so next phase will be c. 10kwp then phase 3 another 8kwp … and we’ll see if we need more from there. Today’s power curve
Ian,
It sounds as if you have things in hand and that your installation is well-planned. I was going to suggest trying to get Paul L involved but you have managed that anyway.
I have had a heat pump now for 30 months, through 2 winters. The house has never felt as comfortable.
When you have everything set up, do let us know how it has all gone.
Best of luck.
Rob
