Tarif automations

Does anyone know about the algorithms that run the tarif automations? For example:
‘Hold until peak time’ - when is peak time? 4pm-7pm every day?
‘Eco-mode’ - how does it identify when charges are lowest? Just by charging overnight off-peak? Or is charging selected dynamically based on actual rates. If the latter, is there a threshold price?

Or am I assuming too much as to how ‘smart’ the Givenergy tarif automations really are?

I am trialling the Wonderwatt app - this does give you great control over charging intervals and price thresholds - but at a subscription cost.

it sounds like you might be confused…

The ECO mode means to will Charge from Solar and Discharge if there is any charge in the battery.

The “Charging Slots” are all manual… there is no integration ( out of the box ) with your energy provider.

You will either need to get something like the Octopus Smart tarriff where they take control of your battery - or you use a 3rd party integration like Wonderwatt. I personally use Home Automation and “Predbat” which talk to The weather forecast + Octopus + Givenergy to do all the automation for me.

Thanks for the reply - yep, easily confused by the Givenergy web interface. Its just that the 'hold until peak time ’ option implies it knows when the peak time is (ok its always 4-7) and Eco mode blurb says ‘charges when prices are lowest…’ again implying it knows…

Thanks for Predbat lead - I was beginning to look at Github with a view to writing my own controller. Look like there is a lot there to be used.
