Can i just turn the inverter and battery off and just use the grid. Im only asking this because the system they use 80w/h and thats about 2kw over a 24hr period and this 2week period of no sun would mean i would be 2kw a day better off
You can, but it seems a shame to not use something you’ve invested in. Could you charge it up overnight by switching to a two tariff energy contract?
If you do switch it off, there’s a couple of things that come to mind
Make sure the battery is at least 30% charged before doing so. If it gets too low it can’t be charged again without an engineer visit.
Note they are LFP batteries so less of a concern about damaging the batteries by not using them, it’s just making sure they don’t go really low, rather than making sure they’re left at 50% when not in use for a while
Second thing is there is something in the warranty about the system being connected to GivEnergy servers. Can’t remember the exact details but have a read and make sure you are happy.
Also check the installation manual for the correct way/order to turn off and turn on the system.
I agree with TX200.
Maybe utilise a tariff that can make you the best savings from the technology you have
Noooo make a system that doesnt burn the carbon, its bonkers that it needs 2kw a day to function especially if there’s no light
Agreed! 2kW/hr a day is far too high. Is that measured? I wouldn’t have thought it’s using much if it’s not actually ‘inverting’ . . .
