Around 10 days ago, my Givenergy App stopped working. When I discussed this with Givenergy, they expected that the issue was that the inverter had lost the the password to my router. How this happened in a mystery as all of this is in the inverter which is pretty much inaccessible. I rebooted by router and my inverter.
It seems that in order to reset the password, you need to connect to the inverter’s wifi access point. Sadly the password was not supplied to me at installation time and after speaking with the installer, he is unable to provide me with this information.
Has anyone had a similar issue and was able to resolve it.
That’ll find the pdf you need to reset the dongle and setup a new password etc.
Make sure you secure the access point as described otherwise people could be browsing your internet via an open hotspot - which could be a problem if your ISP doesn’t like what websites they are visiting!
Hiya,
Thanks for your suggestion on this.
I contacted my installer and the host company and to see if there was an agreed, in-house, password set, instead of UN=admin PW=admin, but nope! So then a reset of the WiFi was needed.
Inverter WiFi module reset.
The answer is that there is in fact a reset button within the Inverter Unit that will reset the WiFi module in exactly the same way as WiFi Dongle description on page 9 of the instructions.
I suggest that ideally this button should be placed on the outside of the inverter with future models to facilitate easy reset.
Our inverter has been offline for the last 6 weeks since a) our broadband was swiped by a tree and b) we had a 24hr powercut due to the storm in early December. After a lot of effort to get an answer, we were sent a rather poor photocopy of how to access the inverter when we got a temporary 4g setup. The inverter would not recognise the router or network for some reason, tried to do some update and since then I have been unable to connect via the 10.10.100.254 page - it time out or says not available. According to the GE blurb, we too do not have a dongle, wifi built in. The casing round the inverter is screwed shut, no access panels etc. I tried turning everytihing off and on again etc. I can link to the inverter wifi channel but go no further. The installer app is no more use than a chocolate teapot - half the pages are off screen and no live links.
Is there any easy way to access the wifi reset button?
Since our PV system was installed and commissioned at the end of July 24, it has been offline for about 2 months in total and trying to get any help has been like pulling teeth. There must be a simpler way to be able to keep the thing functioning?
This may not help but the issue I had was that the router was moved too far away from the inverter. In my case the issue was simple although it took a while to figure it out.
I did go to great extremes to connect t the inverter which I eventually did, but the password had not been lost.
