I have changed my broadband and I needed to change WiFi connection to Givenergy battery. Based on the guide, I connected my phone to dongle and updated WiFi settings. After that the dongle was rebooted as per the guide.
Now I am not able to connect to the dongle and the updated WiFi settings seems to be not working.
I cannot see any data on my Givenergy app now.
I try to connect to dongle, it connects very briefly (few seconds) and it disconnects immediately. I am now unable to do anything.
as suggested, set your wifi router to the same password and SSID as you used to have
If you are seeing your dongle connect and then immediately disconnect, the fix is to turn off the 5GHz wifi network and let the dongle connect on 2.4. The GivEnergy dongles only connect on 2.4 but most wifi routers will try to push devices that connect on 2.4 over to the 5GHz network as this is less contended.
The GivEnergy device can’t use that network so the connection fails.
Once the inverter has connected on 2.4 you can then turn the 5 network back on and it should be OK.
Look on Youtube for videos from givenergy about setting your wifi details
I tried all these methods and still no success connecting to Wifi Dongle.
Is there a way I can speak to Givenergy support team? I have called their number 5 times so far and it never connects to team. I am in the queue for over 30 minutes and the call drops after that.
GivEnergy have sent me the usual instructions on their website
Resetting the dongle and updating WiFi using the GivEnergy installer app didn’t work. Doing it via a PC browser didn’t work as couldn’t get past the login screen. Now the dongle doesn’t even broadcast a WiFi network, despite numerous resets, so completely stuck. Fed up with this system.
Anyone figured out a solution? Wondering if GivEnergy will send a new dongle under warranty, or better still, and engineer to fix it.
You have not said what kit you have. If you have a dongle that plugs into a usb slot, you can reset it back to default, then log back into it via the ssid and PW on the dongle, then go from there. If your not confident doing it, maybe ask someone in the family with IT knowledge etc.
you won’t get a new dongle under warranty if it has broken, rightly or wrongly GivEnergy expect you to buy a new one. Trade Sparky, ITS Technologies shop or Midsummer Solar Wholesale all sell them, they’re about £50 I think.
You will need to copy the serial number file from your old dongle (plug it into a computer USB socket) onto your new dongle for it to work.
