Yesterday I noticed some really weird values shown in the energy graph section on the giveenergy app. I was expecting around 2-3kw usage over the day, due to it sunny and the home usage primarily from solar or the battery. I have 3 extremely large spikes on the grid import view of 10kw each. This is clearly wrong and not even possible. The export view is also showing values which don’t seem correct. I was expecting around 20kw to be exported, which it is, but it seems to showing battery export when it should be showing as solar export.
In the power graph view, it all looks about right and the same when I look at the dashboard on the online giveenergy cloud login. The legacy view of the energy graph on the cloud view also shows the correct values. Do I just leave it or would it worth contacting giveenergy?
There are other apps and software that can give you alternative figures (reluctant to say correct where GE is concerned!). If you have an android device try
By default all you get is an instant snapshot; to get minute-by-minute, daily, and monthly history, turn on “Collect Stats” in settings. Once you have collected at least a days data, it is possible to transfer raw data from the portal and get better figures.
unfortunately don’t have an android device. I did end up contacting them via the live chat for giveenergy and was advised its affecting a lot of end users and they hope to have it fixed by the end of the month!!
It did not correct the errors but erased the wrong entries leaving blanks in the record.
This was enough for me as I just wanted to know l could rely on future readings for day to day management.
Cross checking with the octopus app was enough to reassure me I wasn’t getting stung for huge downloads from the grid
