Hybrid inverter I assume?
The I did find the battery com lead disconnected 6 or so weeks ago and the box holding the cables up only had 1 screw in it which has worked it’s self loose and dropped disconnecting the lead but I connected the 2 pin connector back to the inverter and put back together but it didn’t fix the issue.
It’s a 3.6k inverter not sure if hybrid?
I’m wondering if I’ve just been really unlucky with 2 different issues occuring around the same time. ( Story of my life)
I’d guess it would be a hybrid otherwise you’d either have two inverters (a GivEnergy inverter and a separate solar inverter) or you’d have GivEnergy inverter and a micro inverter for each solar panel.
If the DC cables from solar go into the givEnergy inverter it’s a hybrid.
I assume you’ve checked all the breakers are on, including in the fuse box?
There should be a grid meter somewhere (EM115 or similar), possibly has a green LED screen and cycles through various data such as voltage etc. is that on and displaying data?
Has anything changed in the house? Had any electric work done? EG smart meter replacement? Is the CT clamp still present in the meter box? Has it come open slightly? It should be clamped over the main tail between the meter and the house fuse box, just on one of the cables either the live or the neutral, not both. It usually has an arrow on it pointing in a specific direction. If work has been done in the meter cupboard there is a chance the engineer has put it back on the wrong wire and/or put it back facing the wrong way.
Otherwise it could be a failed relay in the inverter. Could be many things really. Without access to the portal it’s hard to say what might be wrong.
There is a section in the giv portal for notifications (on the My Inverter page) but guessing you can’t login to that
The comment about led acid does seem to suggest a Comms error. Between the inverter and the batteries.
But no idea why solar would also stop working.
Any lights on the inverter?
I had a similar issue with my gen 1 hybrid inverter, the battery comms lead doesn’t have a lug on it to hold it in the inverter socket
When you plugged the comms lead back in, are you sure you put it in the right socket in the inverter. There are two identical ones and its easy to get the wrong one.
If you look in the portal, what do you see under notifications, you should see any voltage or battery errors
Yes it’s a hybrid then. Not had any work done, al the board switches are on and they have been cycled, same with the battery box, not had any work done only thing I can think of is my toaster went duff and tripped the main MCB board a couple of times a few days before I noticed the batteries were switched off could be coincidence? The meter thing uoi mention is connected ok as far as I can see. I can concet to the cloud and checked settings in there but couldn’t see anything obvious.
The serial number tells us it’s a hybrid installed about 3 years ago. The speed tells us the dongle is working well. The panel voltages say the panels are working, you only have 4 or 5 panels on each string or are using optimisers.
The bad news is the battery is in a poor state, and the inverter is sitting idle.
You have turned on collect stats in the options, but the notification circle is missing. Your phone is not plugged into a charger. This suggests battery optimisation (on your phone) is not set correctly.
The fault log (accessed by the circle bottom right with the exclamation mark in it) may have some messages in it. The battery icon may give you more information about the battery state.
I think you will need someone to come out and help you fix the battery. They can check for other issues at the same visit.
Yes there was only one connector available the other was connected, I couldn’t see anything obvious on the cloud I just noticed the soc on the batteries in the app below seemed to be stuck on 22 and 18 % that bust have been the last communicated soc
Everything is on. Just waiting for the guy who installed the battery to come and take a look or log in remotely. Thanks for all your help guys. I’ll let you know what happens
Sorry to derail this thread, but which exact Android settings should be changed to enable the phone to permanently remain on, with the display lit?
My old Nokia stops charging and dies after a day or so, unless the charger cable is manually reconnected…
To keep screen on, use the eye at the top.
To keep the background process running (screen on or not) set background usage
So my installer has said he needs support to fix this problem and the installer help line has now been taken down so I’m stuck with a non functioning systeme that cost me £13k 3 years ago! What can I do if I can’t get support?
The issue was with the phone itself; it would keep the screen on and the background process running without issue, but would stop charging after a day or so, causing the battery to go flat unless the charging cable was re-plugged.
I have resolved this by enabling ‘Android developer mode’, and setting ‘keep awake’ to ‘on’.
Just found in the event log that at the time the inverter fell over was an automated firmware update at approx 00:27 on 26/03. It doesnt state what the update was for or that is was unsuccessful though but that is the exact same time the status went from normal to waiting. Is it possible due to the battery comms issue in which there is no error event logged at all, that the inverter is waiting for a response from the battery for the firmware update? And not working until it gets it? I think the batters are now too low to communicate at 4v hence why reconnecting the com cable didn’t resolve the issue as the batteries were already depleted below the bms threshold. I’ve just bought a 60v DC charger
Oh and Ribikcube my app is no longer working, not sure why? It will no longer connect but the giv energy one is still connecting
