I have an apple mac and changed from Now to Gigaclear mesh broadband.
Split my wifi.
New extender/node
Got 7654 port..like I was told and still nothing.
Put in the mac address when updating the dongle.
Would update my wifi name to previous name but had to have a new Sim card put into my ashp to accommodate new wifi already so reluctant to call out Octopus again to reverse that procedure without any guarantee it would work.
Inverter firmware has failed but no real idea how to update it on the portal because it can’t connect to the inverter.
Anyone any ideas?
If this was a car I’d drive it off a bridge.
In advance, thanks.
Hi yah, have a look at the videos on this post.
This happens to quite a lot of people, It’s probably best you reset the dongle and start again if you can not use the same WiFi settings you had previously.
Thanks for the pointers. I’ve watched em. Dongle firmware failed. If I get a connection to the dongle it fails before the 10.10.100.254 process completes and anyway that wouldn’t work, I guess if the firmware is out. The dongle is inside the casing that encloses the inverter so I won’t be hard wiring anything. An ethernet cable would be nice. I’ve read that the issue relates to the chipset used in the dongle does not fully support the 802.11s standard. There are so many variables and my feeling is that this is not really fit for service. (here’s a link which is close to my problem…GivEnergy app — MoneySavingExpert Forum) But I’m disappointed that Givenergy sends me in a circular route. Meanwhile, I’m all ears.
Hi yah, it seems your WiFi is still set to the old one. You will need to reset to get it working. You need to update the dongle and WiFi chipset to move forward.
Here are the options:-
- Reset Wi-Fi on the AIO
If you’re having Wi-Fi issues, reset the network settings:
1. Press and hold the Wi-Fi reset button on the AIO (usually a small pinhole on the unit).
2. Hold for about 10 seconds, then release.
3. The AIO will create a temporary hotspot (GivEnergy_XXXX).
4. Connect to this hotspot using a phone or laptop.
5. Open a browser and go to 192.168.4.1.
6. Enter your home Wi-Fi details to reconnect the AIO to the network.
⸻
- Factory Reset (Resets All Settings)
If you need a full factory reset, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the AIO completely (AC & DC isolators OFF).
2. Locate the reset button on the AIO control panel.
3. Press and hold the reset button for at least 10 seconds.
4. Release the button and turn the DC isolator ON first, then the AC isolator ON.
5. The system will reset to default settings and restart.
Note: A factory reset will wipe any settings, including Wi-Fi configuration, battery parameters, and grid settings. You may need to reconfigure these via the GivEnergy portal or app.
⸻
- Check the GivEnergy App/Portal for Remote Reset
- Open the GivEnergy App or portal.
- Navigate to Device Settings > Advanced Settings.
- Look for a Reset or Restore Defaults option.
Thanks…
I’ll have a go this weekend having summoned some enthusiasm for a new approach.
I have my GE stuff on its own vLAN with Ethernet, but if I was using WiFi I would ensure it is only 2.4 no access to 5. This is very important when first setting it up as it won’t like 5.
So I would reset the WiFi to default and ensure the IP is as per above (another good test is it should be back in AP mode. Then set it up again with your settings.
Please also make sure the dongle FW is on 206 and the WiFi Chipset has been updated. See like to other post for videos.
